Man Declared Dead Makes Progress
Larry Green was 29-years old when he was hit by a car in Louisburg and declared dead by emergency crews. 911 Calls Record Confusion over Man Presumed Dead
 Larry Green is at WakeMed in Raleigh. His family says he is making progress, but he still has a long way to go.
 Just in time for Father's Day, he is managing to mutter a few words that give his family a lot of hope.
 "What makes me feel in my heart glad is to hear him say 'Momma, Daddy,'" said Larry Alston, Green's father.
 The power of words and the power of prayer are two things that keep hope alive for Alston.
 "One of the things most I want to hear him say is 'Thank you, Jesus' because God is the one that brought him out of what he's in," he said.
 Alston believes there was a divine intervention in his son's life. In January, 30-year old Larry Green was hit by a car in Franklin County. According to the county attorney, Green was pronounced dead by paramedics and no efforts were made to revive him.
 He was placed in a nearly air-tight body bag for more than two hours until the medical examiner noticed Green was still breathing.
 "I want my son back the way he used to be," Alston said. "I'm glad to see his eyes open. I'm glad to see him making sounds. But I would love to see him walk."
 Alston knows his son may never walk again, and while he is saddened, he is still thankful for his life and the progress he has already made.
 "I'm just gonna keep hope alive that were gonna see even more," Alston said.
 Larry Green's family says he still has a long way to go, but they are hopeful because of all the progress he's already made during his rehabilitation. His family visits him several times a week and reads passages from the Bible to him.
